Radiotherapy and nuclear medicine

Welcome to the radiotherapy and nuclear medicine
By means of a modern linear accelerator, tumours and benign diseases are treated in the radiotherapy. By combining surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, approx. half of all cancer diseases can be cured. The female breast cancer after breast conserving surgery is the most common disease we treat here.
In close cooperation with the medical and gynaecological clinic, we can treat patients in the majority of cases ambulatorily, even parallel to chemotherapy.
Nuclear medicine gives a describes and examines the function of the heart, bones, lungs, kidneys and the thyroid gland.
The German Cancer Association and the Association of Senology (breast cancer specialists) advise breast cancer patients to be treated in certified breast centres. The hospital Rendsburg has been one of them since 2004.
In order to offer an even higher degree of expertise, the radiotherapy department is affiliated to the Breastcentre Holstein and participates at regular intervals at the interdisciplinary case conferences of the involved clinics via video transmission
The quality of the medical care, work flow and the radiation protection have been successfully and are constantly certified by means of inspections, so called audits, of the German Cancer Association, the “TÜV Süd” (the technical inspection authority) and the institute of quality assurance in regard to radiotherapy, which belongs to the medical association Schleswig-Holstein (here graded 1b).
The participation in the Association of Radiotherapy Schleswig-Holstein and the German Association of Radiooncology (Degro) guarantees a qualified and time-sensitive, nearby located radiooncological treatment of cancer patients. According to a cooperative treatment concept, the involved clinics commit themselves to standardised therapy concepts and quality guidelines. Our staff educates itself constantly further and is able to attend to our patients, where required, in English as well.
