Clinic for psychiatry, psychotherapy and psychosomatic medicine
Quotation: „hospital treatment of mentally ill people from Rendsburg-Eckernförde county by means of thorough neurological expertise“
The clinic for psychiatry, psychotherapy and psychosomatic medicine started operations on 01.01.2000 and has guaranteed since then the hospital treatment of mentally ill adults from Rendsburg-Eckernförde county. Thus, the clinic carries out the legally obligated treatment for approx. 270,000 people.
According to the hospital concept Schleswig-Holstein 2006-2010, the ward disposes of 110 hospital treatment places and 32 day care treatment places as well as an outpatient department.
The two day hospitals, affiliated to the clinic for psychiatry, psychotherapy and psychosomatic medicine, are situated in Rendsburg (15 treatment places) and Eckernförde (17 treatment places).
All 110 inpatient treatment places are allocated to four treatment sectors (general psychiatry, addiction medicine, gerontopsychiatry, psychotherapy and psychosomatic medicine) with six wards concentrating on differing focuses.
The concept of the department complies with the conception of an open psychiatric unit, where the appliance of psychotherapeutical methods is of high significance. The service range of the unit varies from differentiated pharmacological treatment, in accordance with scientific guidelines, to detoxication treatment in case of addiction disease up to differentiated behavioural therapy and depth-oriented therapy founded treatment offers. The electroconvulsive therapy is available as well, in association with the anaesthesiology. All recent diagnostic techniques of the neurological field, including the imaging techniques (cranial computer tomography, magnetic resonance tomography) are carried out on our premises.
In the clinic works an interdisciplinary team of nursing staff, physicians, psychologists, social workers, occupation therapists, physiotherapists and kinesitherapists, music therapists and art therapists.
Since 01.01.2006, a pilot project to test a regional psychiatry budget, is carried out at the clinic for psychiatry, psychotherapy and psychosomatic medicine, for which the university Leipzig provides scientific assistance.
